This old mill is mostly on two levels with two towers and an assortment of outbuildings.  It was lived in until last year.  It is full of history and interesting features with beams, cotto floors and traditional fireplaces.  It has never been modernised so retains all the charm of an old Italian farmhouse.  It needs completely restoring but is in good structural condition.

There is the option of buying the mill with an additional 15 hectares (16 in total) belonging to the same owner for 630,000 euros.

A series of store rooms, stables, animal stalls, the old mill, cantina and a grotto.

This floor is divided into two dwellings, the miller's house and the farmworker's home, but they could easily be combined if required.  Each has a large living room with traditional open fireplace and rooms leading off from these.

Land

There is 1 hectare of land included in the price with the option of buying an additional 15 hectares, a large part of the valley, comprising mostly arable land with one hectare of woods.  A small river with rock pools runs down the side of the valley.  The whole area is very picturesque and ideal for painting, walking, horse riding, mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits. 

Access

The property is reached along a white road of 800m in reasonable condition.  The road passes a small group of three adjoined properties and terminates some 150m further on at the mill.

The view is excellent, looking out over the fields to cliffs, woods and on down the valley.

This old mill is one of the best examples we have ever seen and could easily be a film set.  An old threshing machine and tractor sit forlornly in a shed beside the house.  It is simply loaded with history and was lived in right up until last year, when Bruno, now in his eighties could no longer manage on his own.  Going inside you would think that it hadn't been lived in for fifty years.  Bruno would collect his water by bucket from the nearby well and the only concession to modern life was a little black and white TV in the kitchen.

 

Since writing this we heard that Bruno sadly passed away on the 24th December 2006.
