'We have had two wonderful family holidays in Poggio Aquilone in the past few years. The house is practical and charming, and set in the most beautiful countryside, with easy access to country walks and bustling towns. Our children particularly enjoyed using the local swimming pools at Marsciano and San Vernanzo, and we made some memorable trips to local towns, such as Perugia, Montefalco and Bevagna. The accommodation is comfortable and spacious and perfect for a family of up to 5. We shall certainly hope to return before too long!'
'We found the cottage very comfortable; morning coffees on the balcony off the middle bedroom and late afternoon wines on the balcony off the main bedroom where we could overlook the valley and hills beyond - was just so very beautiful. We cooked very simple dinners - fresh pasta, salads and some meat (the butcher at the Co-op was great - spoke some English and cut us the most tender of steaks for a song of a price). We got to the restaurant in Montefalco - it too was great; we ate too much though, and I did not have enough wine as I had to drive!!!!
We visited all the places Mary did, including Bettona and Torgiano (our daughters actually bought us an accommodation package at 'le Tri Veselle' in Torgiano where we stayed on Saturday and Sunday night. This is a great place to be treated royally - it included a 4 course dinner with wines (which they selected for each course); the dinner was superb. So, we are sadly back home now, but have wonderful lifetime memories of Umbria, all thanks to you and your offer of your lovely cottage. Oh, we wished we could have spoken Italian as we couldn't mix with the village folk which was a frustration to us.'
