Opening a bank account
Before you can buy a property here in Italy you must have a bank account (un conto corrente in banca). This must be opened before the final contract. A member of our staff can accompany you to the bank and help you to obtain this and the service is included in our fee. We recommend Unicredit Banca (previously Banca dell’Umbria), which has branches all over Umbria. You can use our office address until your house purchase is complete and then have it transferred to your nearest branch. We can forward your mail to you or hold it until you next arrive.
Be aware that if you open a bank account here and then decide not to buy a house, the account will still be open. There will be charges incurred until it is formally closed.
