Transferring utilities into your name

Your utility services; gas, electricity, water, telephone, etc. will need to be transferred into your name.  We do this for you as a free service provided the property is still connected to the service. We need the last bills from the previous owners and the details of the house and the new owners and a visit has to be made to each utility office.  A new contract will be sent to your new home and it needs to be signed and returned to the service provider within 40 days.  The service providers will not send the contract to an address outside Italy and there is no fixed period between changing the service to your name and them sending the contract.  So, if you can't be there then you will need to arrange for someone to visit the house, for which they will need a key, and send you the contract.  We have people on our After Sales Services team who will do this for a modest charge. Registering for Community tax and refuse tax is something you need to do in person in your local Comune offices (tributi).
